We were able to walk to this well-located boutique art hotel in just a few minutes from the local subway station. Upon entering the room, I was delighted to see the table lamp that I had been tempted to buy at my local Scandi shop, Minima. Although it was an ex-display and almost affordable, I have no need of a lamp!

We found a huge bed with bedside tables, a sofa and coffee table, a desk with drawer and chair. The lighting is all where it needs to be as are the power sockets.

Bathroom

  • Generous bar of soap which came home with us and lasted for ages afterwards

  • Mini shampoo, conditioner and shower gel

  • 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels

  • Shower cap

  • Bathtub with perfectly placed detachable shower head

Refreshments

Greeted with some Greek confectionery and sweetie jars (sadly these weren’t replenished!). A bottle of red wine appeared too - which between us we took the whole 4 nights to consume.

As Athens - indeed Greece - is new to us, we took advantage of the offer to include, what turned out to be an excellent breakfast. Buffet style, we had the option to be be seated on the terrace or inside and hot drinks were bought to our table. For hot and cold foods, fruits, pastries, yoghurts, cereals and probably lots I’ve forgotten about, it is self-service. I was particularly taken with the way fresh honeycomb was offered.

In the room, we had a pod coffee machine with 2 espresso cups and wine glasses plus 2 water glasses.

We have noticed that in most hotels we have stayed in recent years, it has been difficult to control the temperature. Although it was 21°C in Athens in November, which is considered winter, the hotel had set the controls to heat. We did not need the air conditioning, but we did not need the heat either. It took us about a while to communicate with the hotel staff and get the heating turned off. We were able to rely on the cordless fan we brought with us to cool down if we needed.

The reception area is vast and airy and like all the rooms, furnished with individual art. I wish we had an excuse to spend time here but we never need to wait around for anything, the staff were great! They greeted us outside and immediately grabbed our luggage for us. And that set the tone for the service throughout our stay.
