Be Open to the Joy of Edinburgh

Be Open to the Joy of Edinburgh

I’ve missed Scotland.

We’d booked a couple of nights in London for our 10th anniversary, thinking if we’re still able to go abroad, we’re close to a variety of airports.

However, we had to go to plan C (or is it plan D, I’ve lost count) and we followed up London with a trip to Edinburgh.

I am glad to be in the city again. As we know it, we decided to explore some new neighbourhoods as well as a day trip to Dundee, especially to visit the V&A. Apart from the great landscape, the amazing museum proved to be pretty much the main draw for this small city. But the V&A is excellent.

The joy of Dean Village is that I could be in any old European city. It was hard to leave it this time as it looked even prettier and we extended the visit by walking back through the park, admiring and being entertained by many dogs in the process.

We landed in Soderberg as soon as we’d checked in at the nearby hotel and we revisited my favourite city spot for breakfast before we returned. I still miss that it’s no longer called Peter’s Yard but love it just the same. Another great spot for dog watching, being as it is next to the huge Meadows.

Another local great breakfast was enjoyed at La Viola and for dinner, Thai Lemongrass saved us on the first night as they challenged themselves to find a table for us when we walked in off the street.

A final mention goes out to Gordon St Cafe who upon discovering their card machine wasn’t working, gave us our coffees free. Even when we went back a couple of days later, they refused to take payment. Lovely place by the station, close to the Milkman and opposite the Fruitmarket.
