Afternoon Tea - Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at Fortnum & Masons

Afternoon Tea - Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at Fortnum & Masons

Over the last few years, a quiet obsession with all things Fortnum’s has slowly been built. Inevitably, this has to lead me to stay in the lift until the top floor of the iconic London food retailer (I can no more call it a supermarket that I can the Harrods Food hall that). I would have visited sooner if only knew that’s what the Tea Salon was; a super luxurious afternoon experience.

It lived up to our high expectations with 5-star service to match. It’s formal yet friendly. Traditional although the quirks make it feel modern. The mere fact that it’s accessible even if you don’t come from blue stock - as it once would have been - makes it modern.

Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon ranks highly against the best afternoon tea I’ve had at the Intercontinental in Hong Kong - twice. Also withstands the competition with an altogether different experience in Tokyo, with its fusion of Middle East service meets Japanese courtesy and the Christmas Day tea at the Mandarin. And we still have our 10 year anniversary afternoon tea celebration to come.
