The hotel suited me well for my one night in Nottingham on business. It’s ideally centrally located in the Lace Market area of the city with loads of coffee shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep.

Bedroom

A decent sized bed with an incredible warm duvet and four pillows.

  • double wardrobe with hangers

  • a couple of drawers at least - not used!

  • dressing table/desk & chair

  • 2 bedside drawer/shelf units

  • TV on wall

Bathroom

This is a decent size with a good monsoon shower.

  • large mirror

  • small sufficient sink

  • a shelf above sink and plenty of space around it

  • two towels and one hand towel. Bath mat. All very absorbent and hard-wearing

  • shower gel, body lotion and shampoo tubes. Solid soap.

  • heated towel rail with a control switch

Amenities

  • hairdryer

  • iron & board

  • air con - worked well as the room was very warm. I made the mistake of leaving the air-con on all night resulting in very dry eyes the next day. I did have the window in the bathroom open but couldn’t figure out if the room one opened. If I was there a second night, I would have figured all of this out though.

  • plenty of sockets (no USB)

  • good lighting including two options on each bedside

Refreshments

  • two complimentary water bottles upon arrival

  • kettle and usual complimentary tea/coffee satchets (not used)

  • standard hotel buffet breakfast, meaning with runny scrambled eggs (avoid) good fried eggs (take 2 with toast). Tea & coffee served in old school cups & saucers at the table so you do have to keep flagging staff down if you want a refill of coffee. Tea came in a pot.

Service was good throughout except in the breakfast lounge. It wasn’t bad, just without any trace of a smile or instruction; I was offered tea or coffee but then had to ask if i help myself to the buffet. Other staff were all good though, including in the meeting room.

  • lifts were quick and always seemed to be there or stairs next door.

A very comfortable stay and I would definitely go back if needed.
